Cyanotype Unit: Preserved Collections

Reflection:

Photography is my passion and just because a school may not have a darkroom or computer lab doesn’t mean that students can’t learn about the science (and magic) of photography. Cyanotypes are a camera free way to explore the chemical reaction that occurs when light sensitive paper is exposed to the sun (or ultraviolet light). Part science experiment, part exploration of positive and negative space, my Preserved Collections unit aligns with both the CDE Visual Art Standard: Observe and Learn to Comprehend, and Invent and Discover to Create.
